The Zoo

Since we got rain over Memorial Day weekend we decided that it would be a good time to go on a small family vacation to Omaha. We left Tuesday afternoon and landed at the Embassy Suites in La Vista. When we got to our hotel room we were pleasantly surprised to find that we were going to be staying in an Executive Suite, this was like to size of two hotel rooms (great for a two year old that doesn't like to be cooped up). We took the kids swimming after getting our luggage unloaded and the pack n play set up for Jake. Brenna had a blast, we had just gotten her a new swimming vest and she suddenly became brave in the water, Jake on the other hand could really care less about swimming.

On Wednesday we went to the Henry Doorly Zoo, above are some pictures of our fun trip. Brenna loved all the animals, especially the fish and the penguins. Jake is just a little to little to appreciate the animals. The two favorite things Brenna did, we don't have pictures of one was riding on the Skyfari with Daddy and the other was riding the carousel with Mommy. We had such a great time.

News From the Frontlines

Well, haven't updated for awhile so here is what is new at our house.

  • Brenna is now talking up a storm. There is almost nothing she can't say once she hears you say it.
  • Jacob has started rolling over, you can't keep him on his back, he just rolls back to his tummy and then gets mad because he doesn't particularly like to lay on his tummy.
  • Brenna has begun to enjoy helping Mommy with everything from cooking to cleaning.
  • Potty training is at a stand still, Brenna doesn't even care when she goes to the bathroom in her diaper, so I am not going to push the issue again for awhile. She is also once again refusing to sit on her potty chair. Oh well hopefully we figure this out before she goes to college. Ha Ha!
  • Jacob has become the boy that hates to nap, he will fight falling asleep for hours until his swing finally lulls him off.
  • Morgan has finished planting for this year, unless there is any replanting to do. Although that means it is just the beginning of being busy, there is still cultivating, ridging and male row clipping (for seed corn) as well as hauling pipe and irrigating all summer.
  • I have become a walk-aholic, yeah for me. I have been walking at least five days a week and can't get enough, it is almost better than nap time at our house. When we are out walking both kids are quiet and I can hear myself think. Not only is it good for my body, it is good for my mind and my sanity. It has also helped me to get the rest of Jake's baby weight off and within 5 lbs of the weight that was left after having Brenna before getting pregnant with Jake. Yeah!!!

Not much else is going on around here, we are getting ready to seed our front yard, I can't wait. And hopefully we will be going to the Henry Doorly Zoo next week, can't wait.

Fancy Nancy

Have you ever heard of the 'Fancy Nancy' book series? They are absolutely adorable books for little girls. The books say they are for 4 year olds and up, but my 2 year old loves them. We started reading them when she received one for her birthday, along with the book she also received the cutest outfit to play dress up in. Nancy is a little girl that is obsessed with all things FANCY, she also loves French things because everything sounds much fancier in French. Here are some pictures of Brenna dressed up in her Fancy Nancy outfit. This particular outfit comes from the 'Bonjour Butterfly' book. I love these books too!

3 Months

It is hard to believe that it has been three months since our precious little boy came into this world. Jacob is now sleeping through the night, praise the Lord, and has been for about a month. He doesn't really nap during the day, but having him sleep all night completely makes up for it, since I am not much of a napper myself. Life has been pretty hectic, but so much fun with two kids. Everyday seems so long in and of its self, but the weeks and months seem to fly by. Jacob has yet to roll over, I know he will when he is ready. He now weighs almost 15 lbs and I measured his length this morning and it was 25 inches, but I know at his 2 month check up the nurse measured him at 25 1/2 inches so I am pretty sure that the nurse had to of read her tape measure wrong, because I am quite certain that kids don't usually shrink in size (although I am not a medical professional or anything) and I measured him twice thinking I was off the first time. I am really trying to enjoy my children while I can because I know how fast this time goes by. When Brenna was 3 months old I had to go back to work, so I am really looking forward to not missing a moment of Jacob's life and not missing anymore of Brenna's. I thank my God everyday that I am able to stay home with my children to watch them grow and to hopefully shape their lives to honor God.
