Viva Mexico!

I know that I am a little late getting this post up, but our office has been occupied in the basement by framers, electricians and drywallers for the past couple of weeks.

Monday, January 4, was the beginning of our week long vacation to Mexico to celebrate 5 years of marriage. We flew from Kearney to Denver on Monday, this was an adventure in and of itself. Our flight was supposed to leave just before 5 pm, but was delayed until sometime after 6 (not really sure what time we got off the ground). The Kearney Airport has nothing to offer other than vending machines for a snack, but we stuck around just in case the flight coming in was earlier than expected. The plane we flew in was the noisiest thing I have ever heard and the smallest plane I had ever been on (19 passenger). After arriving in Denver we stayed the night at the Embassy Suites (Morgan's favorite, for the free breakfast, personally I think they have the worst beds ever) so we would be well rested for our flight the next day. I am so happy that we didn't try to do all of our flying in one day, because we probably would have missed our plane in Denver with the way the Kearney airport seems to run.

Tuesday, our flight left Denver at around 10 am and we arrived in Cancun sometime after 3 pm. Our hotel was in Playa del Carmen so we had about and hour ride. Our resort was wonderful, we had a swim-up suite, that would have been great had the pools not been cold, but we did have a ocean view. The food was the best we have ever had on vacation, at first we weren't so sure, but the last night we were brave and tried the French restaurant that was on the property, we had the best steak anywhere (except for the ones that come out of our own freezer). The resort also had a coffee shop that served pastries all day as well as had chocolate fountains going from lunchtime on, it was great (my waistline might disagree). We didn't do anything too exciting just mostly relaxed, walked on the beach and spent one morning shopping on 5th Avenue.

We had to leave our kids for a week, but it was well worth it. We spent some much needed time together and got re energized. Our trip home we thought would go off without a hitch, but we were wrong. We returned to Denver on Sunday, January 10 and once again stayed the night. We were supposed to fly back to Kearney at around 10:30 am on Monday the 11th, but the airline decided to cancel our flight (they called it mechanical problems, I call it there wasn't anyone on the flight that was supposed to return from Kearney once we arrived so they cancelled it), so we were able to get on the 2:25 flight that left about 30 minutes late, oh well we spent 4 extra hours at DIA and we got a whole whopping $15 in food vouchers (they had the nerve to tell us to make sure we used them all in one place because they don't give change, I wondered where that would be that I wouldn't spend at least $15 for a meal of my own at the airport let alone feed my hubby too). We had a wonderful time all in all and were so happy to get home to our beautiful kids.
