Frustrated and Thankful

I know that hardly anyone reads my blog, and thats okay, so today I am going to vent my frustrations just to get them off my chest and not overload my husband with them when he gets home, although I will probably still let him know whats on my mind. Today Jacob was supposed to go to the doctor for his 2 month checkup, I was excited to get out of the house and to see how much my little boy has grown in the last month (not looking forward to shots), but his lovely doctor who I know is drowning in patients was called out to an emergency and she had a new mommy in labor. I understand her being gone but doesn't she know that we were looking forward to this outing all week, that she is sometimes my link to the adult world, and that I may not have left my house all week except for this appointment. Okay so I am exagerating a little I usually have some grocery shopping to do or we just go to one of the Grandmas' for awhile to get out. But really I wish that if doctors are on call, they should not be scheduling appointments, thank goodness they called before we got to the office and then had to wait for her to show up.

On to another frustration, why can my children not nap when I need them to. Today Brenna is at Grandma and Grandpa Fouts's for the night and Jacob finally decided to nap at 4:15, too late for me to go down for a snooze. I will say however that Jacob is now usually only waking up once before 7 am, (sometime between 3am and 5am) so I am getting a fair amount of sleep during the night so I should probably quit complaining.

And onto one more frustration. Why do I feel completely inept as a mother sometimes. I let my 2 year old watch cartoons all morning, and when it is cold and/or windy out it could be most of the day, with a few interjections of reading and playing with toys, eating lunch, and napping. I mean an excellent mother would have the whole day planned out from art time to story time etc. Me, I just roll with the punches and hope we all survive til Morgan gets home in the evening. I will say this in all my insecurities as a mother, my children are well fed, clean, well dressed and deeply loved. And I guess as long as all of their most basic needs are met, I am doing the best I can with the extras.

Okay now that I am done venting I have so much to be thankful for. So here are my top ten things I am thankful for today.

1. My loving God, that he sent his son Jesus to die for my sins
2. My beautiful family (Morgan, Brenna, and Jacob)
3. The beautiful home I have been blessed with.
4. For God allowing me to stay home and raise my two little miracles
5. The health of my family
6. A wonderful mother
7. Wonderful in-laws (Becky and Alan)
8. The laughter that my children create everyday
9. Morgan, that he works hard, laughs hard and loves me deeply
10. That I don't have to worry about where my next meal is coming from or where I will sleep tonight because God has provided these things for me.

I know that through everything God is in control.

Pictures of Jacob at 2 months

I thought I would share some pictures of Jacob that I took today, his 2 month birthday. Also added at the top is Miss Brenna trying to put on her new shoes. I am also posting a ton of pictures to my shutterfly account so you can check that out at brennafouts.shutterfly.com.

Jacob is 2 months old

I can't believe how the last two months have flown by. Our precious little boy is now smiling and sometimes even laughing. He is such joy to watch and to take care of. Miss Brenna is beginning to like her brother a little more each day. I will try to post some pictures tomorrow when there is a little more time. Gotta go for now, I think the kids are waking up.

Funny little Brenna

We had such a silly day today. I decided to get out the mirror that Brenna used to use when she laid on the floor as a baby, for Jacob to admire his handsome self. Well Miss Brenna thought that it was absolutely hilarious that she could see Jacob in the mirror, not realizing that she could also see herself in the mirror ( I guess she hasn't quite figured that one out yet), so when she moved the mirror away from Jacob she kept trying to look for him in it. This was very cute and if my video camera would have had charged batteries I would have taped this. It is too bad that I don't just have a video camera taping our every move. On that note, why don't they do any television shows about the normal typical stay-at-home mom, with only two kids and a dog. I know that people with multiples are more interesting, but come on if you spent a day at my house you would be thoroughly entertained (mostly by me getting frustrated with my children cuz I can't do it all at once). Anyways, the next time we get the mirror out for Jacob I will be sure to have the camera running.

Brenna's Birthday

On Brenna's birthday, March 19, we had a super fun day. Our day started off with lunch at Burger King with Averi, Lyndsey, Aunt Susan and Grandma Fouts. Then it was off to the Big Apple for some fun in Ballocity. I would recommend this to anyone trying to wear themselves and their children out, it was a ton of fun. Brenna really loved the slides. Brenna's Great-grandma also came to watch the kids play in Ballocity. After our trip to the Big Apple Brenna had her 2 year check up, she now weighs 26 lbs and is 33 1/2 inches tall. All in all her check up was very good, the nurses gave her stickers and bracelets for her birthday. I am so thankful that we had such a good report at the doctors. After all the fun for the day Brenna went home and took a very long nap, followed by dinner at Valentino's with Grandma and Grandpa Fouts. What a wonderful day. We are so blessed by this wonderful little girl.

Brenna is 2!

I can't believe that little Miss Brenna is already 2. Time sure flies by, it seems like just yesterday she was just as little as Jacob and we were getting up in the night with her. Now she sleeps through the night and talks our ears off.
Here are the top ten things Miss Brenna loves to do.

1. Watch cartoons on the Disney Channel
2. Play outside
3. Blow bubbles
4. Play with Grandpa
5. Swing
6. Hug her Mommy
7. Pretend to cook
8. Take a bath
9. Read books
10. See her Daddy when he gets home from work.

Brenna is our little miracle and I thank God everyday that we were chosen to be her parents. She always has a bright smile and a big attitude that can always brighten your day. I can't imagine this world with out Miss Brenna. I Love You!

Jacob is 1 month old

It is hard to believe that a month has gone by since we welcomed our sweet little boy into this world. Today we went to the doctor for Jacob's one month check up. He now weighs 11lbs and is 23 and 3/4 inches long, what a big boy. His doctor said he looked great and we needed to come back when he is two months old. I am very thankful today for Jacob having a healthy check up, Praise the Lord!
